Committee on Fuel Poverty (CFP) meeting minutes - 31 March 2025

Agenda Item 1
Chair’s welcome
The Chair welcomed members.
Members interests
Liz Bisset had been elected as trustee and Chair of the Cambridge Cyrenians.
Minutes of last meeting
The Chair requested an update to the previous minutes of the formal meeting.
Agenda Item 2: Action log: Update on progress
The Committee reviewed the action log and discussed outstanding actions with DESNZ officials.
Agenda Item 3: Stakeholder engagement
Members noted additional stakeholder engagements to be added to the engagement log.
Agenda Item 4: DHSC Health Missions update
Officials from the Department of Health and Social Care provided an update on housing and health with particular focus on the Health Mission, 10 Year Plan and the health impacts of cold homes. Discussions followed on how to address the impact of cold homes on fuel poor households.
Agenda Item 5: Fuel Poverty statistics
DESNZ provided an update on the annual fuel poverty statistics following their publication on 27 March 2025. Discussions followed on the analysis of the statistics.
Agenda Item 6: DESNZ update
DESNZ provided the Committee with an update on current fuel poverty schemes and priorities.
Agenda Item 7: CFP response to the review of the Fuel Poverty Strategy
DESNZ provided an update on the Review of the Fuel Poverty Strategy. Discussions followed on the proposed fuel poverty target options.
Agenda Item 8: AOB
The next formal meeting will be held on 19 May 2025.
