This prison service instruction (PSI) sets out rules and guidance for the smooth running and safety of a prison while people are moving around, including managing the radio network and coordinating responses to incidents.
It covers:
- roles and responsibilities for communication and control rooms
- standards and best practice for internal radio networks
- managing and maintaining security equipment
- managing perimeter security
- what to do in an incident or emergency
- moving prisoners around the prison and roll checks
- the use of national call signs
This is a current PSI. It came into effect on 1 April 2011.
