February 2025 — Border Force TAD printing issues

Updated 6 February 2025

Some traders may be experiencing issues when attending an office of departure to have normal transit movements released.

Border Force are unable to print the transit accompanying document (TAD) when you supply the supporting document data group at consignment level. This data group is one of the places you can put the export movement reference number.

What you need to know

The movement will still be released as normal. Border Force can provide the movement reference number to the driver who will need to make note of it.

Simplified movements released at the authorised consignor premises are unaffected as the TAD is produced by the trader software.

What you need to do

If you need Border Force to print the TAD, use:

  • the supporting document data group
  • document type NZZZ
  • the export movement reference number at the house consignment level

What HMRC are doing

We have identified a solution in the New Computerised Transit System (NCTS) to fix this issue. We expect to make these changes to NCTS by the end of February.
