Newsletter 1 - January 2016

Euro Exchange Rates
Traders and officers at UK offices of departure who wish to calculate the value of a Community/common transit guarantee must use the official exchange rate when converting sterling and other national currencies into/from the Euro (Article 22, Paragraph 1 of Appendix II to the Convention on a Common Transit Procedure refers).
This rate is used by offices of departure for the purpose of calculating the amount of duty and other charges covered by the standard EUR 7,000 voucher in non-euro currencies.
Late last year, we issued Newsletter 3 - October 2015 to advise interested parties of the exchange rates between national currencies and the Euro. They were applied with effect from 1 January 2016.
The European Commission have now published the exchange rate between the national currency of Serbia and the Euro. This shall be applied from the date that Serbia accedes to the Common Transit convention on 1 February 2016. The list of exchange rates has therefore been updated.
