Details

These forms are for enforcing authorities (usually local councils) to apply for funding to clean up (remediate) contaminated land, claim payments and submit completion reports. Further instructions and information are included in the Notes for Applicants and the Prioritisation Worksheet. A general introduction to this topic is provided on the contaminated land page.

Funding availability information

A contaminated land contingency fund of £400,000 for 2016 to 2017 is available for Environmental Protection Act 1990 Part 2A enforcing authorities. Grants will be managed by the Environment Agency from the contaminated land capital projects (CLCP) programme. Future funds are not guaranteed.

A priority approach to allocate funding will be used as follows:

  • Priority 1: urgent remediation
  • Priority 2: completion of ongoing remedial treatment schemes
  • Priority 3: starting remedial treatment schemes on existing projects
  • Priority 4: completion of other ongoing schemes by exception

  3. Added updated forms and additional instructions for enforcing authorities to apply for contaminated land grants, following confirmation of £500,000 funding for 2014 to 2015 by Lord de Mauley in his letter to local authorities dated 3 September 2014, distributed 4 September.
