The UK government submitted the 6th periodic report in November 2017.
The Ministry of Justice also oversees the implementation of two international mechanisms aimed at monitoring places of detention to prevent torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment:
- Council of Europe - European Convention for the prevention of torture and inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment (ECPT)
- United Nations - Optional protocol to the convention against torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment (OPCAT)
