1. Statement by the Department for Work & Pensions - Breach of the government’s Business Appointment Rules in relation to Mr Richard Corbridge’s appointment with Segro plc
The DWP confirms Mr Corbridge’s statement that he was made fully aware of the need for ACOBA approval before taking up post or publicly confirming his intent to join Segro. This was made explicit to Mr Corbridge in exit discussions and during the formal ACOBA application process.
The Department takes such matters seriously.
The Committee is asked to note that Mr Corbridge has not yet taken up post. DWP has now taken steps to ensure that correct internal approvals are place which are in line with the standards that ACOBA rightly expects. DWP wishes to add its apologies to those already submitted by Mr Corbridge.
