Letters authorising the early release of 2 grants to local authorities totalling £3.4 billion before the end of the month, to allow them to act on the government’s recent announcements to tackle COVID-19.

The first letter is from the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) to the MHCLG Secretary of State requesting the ministerial direction.

The second letter is from the MHCLG Secretary of State to the Permanent Secretary setting out the ministerial direction.
