Details

This research was conducted by the research agency Ipsos on behalf of HMRC. The research explored employees’ experiences of being placed on furlough while their employer was claiming for a proportion of their wages through the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) and the perceived impacts of being on furlough. The research explored the differences in experiences between those placed on furlough and those who continued working.

The qualitative research used in-depth interviews with employees. It included employees who had been placed on furlough and employees who had not. Fieldwork took place between May and August 2022.

The findings from this research have been used in the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme final evaluation report.
