Details

CoRWM’s Response was formulated following CoRWM’s close observation of the Managing Radioactive Waste Safely (MRWS) process in Cumbria, evidence gathering, reflecting on lessons learned and lengthy debates within the Committee.

The response, in addition to pointing out the areas in which CoRWM agrees with the process as outlined in the Consultation Document, sets out the areas where CoRWM does not agree with DECC’s proposals.

The CoRWM response also includes a number of recommendations, which the Committee consider will significantly improve the GDF Siting Process.

Amongst others, CoRWM make recommendations concerning the process as set out in the document, the various roles and responsibilities of the organisations involved, the role of geology in the Safety Case, the inventory and the way in which community support is measured.
