Local authorities and other organisations have the power to make byelaws to address local concerns, under section 235 of the Local Government Act 1972. The guidance outlines when and how a local authority or other organisation can make a byelaw to address a local issue relating to the countryside. Use the model templates to help draft a countryside byelaw, and the form to apply to Defra for confirmation.
