Quantifying knowledge spillovers from the UK creative industries: a scoping study (March 2022)

This scoping exercise by Frontier Economics focuses on how best to quantify knowledge spillovers from the creative industries to inform decisions about support activities that generate positive benefits.

It concludes that current UK data on the creative industries is insufficient to conduct an analysis of knowledge spillovers and provides recommendations on how to estimate spillovers in future research.

A Design Sprint for the Creative Industries Sector Vision: Maximising the spillover value of the creative industries to the wider economy (April 2022)

DCMS and UKRI jointly commissioned the Design Council to deliver qualitative research with creative professionals and stakeholders to explore how creative industries activity generates value in the wider economy, and what can be done to maximise that value.

The research was delivered as a ‘design sprint’ with over 70 participants leading to recommendations for industry and government. The research will be used to inform future work by government and industry, including the forthcoming Creative Industries Sector Vision and future activity delivered by UKRI.
