These tables provides details of the currency codes which may be used on a customs declaration submitted to the Customs Declaration Service (CDS) against their relevant country.
There are 4 separate tables provided, the:
- first table is sorted by currency code
- second table is sorted by country name
- third table is a list of non-standard country codes and the currency to be used for their codes
- fourth table details the special fiscal territories and countries with which the EU has a customs union
The information included in the first and second table is identical.
An asterisk (*) in the first or second table indicates that the country is a special territory or a territory with which the EU has a customs union.
A separate list can be found in table 4.
The invoice currency code used does not affect the currency to be used for the statistical value declared in Data Element 8/6 which must always be declared in sterling (GBP).
The invoice currency declared must apply to the amounts declared in both Data Element 4/11 total amounts invoiced, and Data Element 4/14 item price/amount.
Any currencies declared to Customs Declaration Service (CDS) must be attached to a specific Data Element amount. The currency should therefore be declared with the appropriate Data Element amount. For example:
- ‘GBP’ followed by the total amount invoiced in Data Element 4/11
- ‘GBP’ followed by item price/amount in Data Element 4/4
- ‘GBP’ followed by additional freight charges in Data Element 4/9
