Overall Objective for the Qualification
The main objective of this qualification is to develop learners’ skills in practical teaching skills and prepare them for work in a wide range of educational contexts.
Pre-entry requirements
In order to successfully achieve the qualification, learners will be required to complete a minimum teaching practice of 30 hours. In addition, all learners/trainee teachers should:
- Undertake an initial assessment of their skills in English, Mathematics and ICT. They should record their development needs and where applicable agree an action plan to address them. If learners/trainee teachers have already completed an initial assessment of their skills in English, Mathematics and ICT prior to starting the qualification, their existing record of development needs and any previous actions taken to address them should be reviewed and updated as required.
- Be able to study at Level 4.
