Overall Objective for the Qualification
On successful completion of this qualification learners will have the skills and knowledge to effectively perform the duties of a specialist welfare worker. The purpose of this qualification is to develop non-specialist individuals to become specialist welfare practitioners within the Army and Royal Navy Divisions. The emphasis is on experiential learning through occupational practice where the principles, theories and concepts of welfare work form robust foundations for teaching, learning and assessment. A key principle of the qualification is to develop a learner’s ability to embrace a critical approach to their learning which, in turn, will result in more thorough engagement and insightful application of learning and practice.
Pre-entry requirements
Admission onto the qualification will be through a formal application and interview process.
Much of the learning for this qualification is through the application of knowledge and skills during occupational practice.
There are no pre-entry qualification requirements, but learners should be aware that this is a Level 5 qualification with concomitant academic requirements at this level. Learners will be required to write academic essays and produce professional case study and professional visit reports. Undertaking some study/critical analysis/self-reflection skills learning prior to commencing the qualification would be advantageous.
