Darta Yorkshire Limited (previously Yorkshire Greens Limited) and JSR Farms Limited: applications made to abstract water

Darta Yorkshire Limited (previously Yorkshire Greens Limited) and JSR Farms Limited have applied to the Environment Agency for two licences.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of these applications in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The first application is to vary licence serial number 2/26/31/037 which authorises the abstraction of water from underground strata comprising of chalk at National Grid Reference (NGR) SE 9827 5710 for the purpose of spray irrigation.
The variation applied for seeks to:

add the purpose of vegetable washing
-
add the purpose of filling a reservoir for subsequent vegetable washing, with an aggregate of 160,000 cubic metres per year between licences 2/26/31/037 and NE/026/0031/024

add an aggregate of 160,000 cubic metres per year between licences 2/26/31/037 and NE/026/0031/024 for the purpose of vegetable washing, with a 5 year rolling aggregate of 700,000 cubic metres.
The second application is to renew licence NE/026/0031/024 on different terms, the current licence authorises the abstraction of water from underground strata comprising of chalk at NGR SE 98815 57146 for the purpose of vegetable washing.
The changes applied for are:

increase the abstraction quantity from 100,000 cubic metres per year to 160,000 cubic metres per year

add the purpose of filling a reservoir for subsequent vegetable washing, with an aggregate of 160,000 cubic metres per year between licences 2/26/31/037 and NE/026/0031/024

add an aggregate of 160,000 cubic metres per year between licences 2/26/31/037 and NE/026/0031/024 for the purpose of vegetable washing, with a 5 year rolling aggregate of 700,000 cubic metres.
The proposed abstractions would take place all year round.
