This statutory instrument (SI) is part of HM Treasury’s programme to deliver a Smarter Regulatory Framework for financial services, tailored to the UK.

On 9 December 2022 as part of the Edinburgh Reforms, the government committed to having a regime for a UK consolidated tape in place by 2024. The government is delivering on this commitment by publishing a near-final draft SI to replace the Data Reporting Services Regulations and relevant parts of wider EU law applying to Data Reporting Services Providers, alongside an accompanying explanatory policy note. The government welcomes any technical comments on the draft SI by 21 August 2023.

This legislation will facilitate the emergence of a consolidated tape in the UK, as consulted on in the Wholesale Markets Review.
