UKSV National Security Vetting Solution: Accessing your e-form hints and tips
Updated 20 September 2024
1. Username and password resets
We do not have the facility to reset your username or password on your behalf. You will need to follow the instructions below in order to retrieve your details.
If you are aware of your username and are trying to reset your password, we still recommend that you select the ‘Forgotten your username’ link first. Once your username has been confirmed, the system will then allow you to reset your password.
1.1 How to request a username reminder
Click the ‘Forgotten your username’ link on the log in page of the portal and enter your forename, surname and email address as entered by your sponsor when your account was created. You will receive an email which details your username. You should receive the email shortly after submitting the request. Please note that this can take up to 24 hours. If you have not received it within a reasonable time, check your junk/spam folder.
1.2 How to request a password reset
Forgotten or lost passwords cannot be retrieved, they can only be reset. If you have to reset your password you will lose any information you have already entered into your form, therefore it is important that you keep your password safe.
You will be asked to provide your username in order to reset your password. To make sure the correct username is used, please follow the ‘Forgotten your username’ guidance before requesting a password reset. Click the ‘Forgotten your password’ link on the log in page of the portal and enter your username. You will be sent an email to the email address used to create your account which will direct you to change your password. If you do not receive a response within 3 hours, you may be using an incorrect username. Please also check your junk/spam folder.
2. How to reset your PIN
If you need to reset your PIN you will lose any information you have already entered into your form, so it is important that you keep your PIN safe.
Once logged into your account please click ‘my account’ at the top of the page, then ‘Reset PIN’. A new PIN number will be provided on the screen. To activate the PIN, enter your username, password and the new PIN provided then click ‘activate’.
3. How to unlock your account
Your account will be locked after 5 unsuccessful attempts to log on. You must contact your Sponsor who will be able to unlock your account if this happens. Please do not contact the UKSV Helpdesk.
4. Tips for matching your data when activating your account
There are certain factors that may prevent the reminder from resending:
- we advise to always perform “Forgotten your username” before a password reset, even if you think you know the username, then copy and paste the username which is sent to you into the password reset field
- if the account is locked the email will not send (your Sponsor will need to unlock the account first)
- if the application has been withdrawn or cancelled (check with your Sponsor)
- you will need to enter the exact same details that the Sponsor used to create the account. Use the same name/spelling, and email address that the Sponsor used. Do not include any extra spaces before or after the details, as these will be recognised as a character.
- also check your junk/spam folder for the email.
