This research provides an estimate of the carbon emissions by the general aviation (GA) sector.
The report includes a number of airfield case studies which highlight some of the challenges facing GA, including barriers to knowledge and finances. It also provides an introduction on how new technology and infrastructure could reduce carbon emissions.
The report was commissioned and funded by the Department for Transport, but the opinions expressed within the report are solely those of Frazer-Nash Consultancy.
This report was produced ahead of publication of the Jet Zero strategy, which recognises a requirement for continued research and a commitment to monitoring progress against emissions reduction trajectory on an annual basis from 2025, with a review of the strategy and delivery plan every 5 years.
Government is publishing this report in line with the Concordant to Research Integrity.
