The Defence Soft Facilities Management (Def SFM) Programme

The Defence SFM Programme will deliver a core set of standardised soft facilities management contracts across six UK regions with a value of circa £2.4 billion.

They will replace the Hestia contracts to provide vital services such as catering, retail, cleaning, and waste to defence sites to support defence outputs and the welfare of Service personnel.

DIO is working in collaboration with the wider Ministry of Defence (MOD) to ensure the contracts will provide a solution to the Defence community that can meet current and future needs whilst supporting Defence initiatives focused on improving the lived experience of service personnel.

Extensive industry engagement has also been undertaken to help suppliers understand our requirements, the needs of individual MOD departments and the needs of Defence personnel.

The new contracts will provide vital services such as:

  • catering
  • retail
  • leisure
  • waste management
  • cleaning
  • messing/accommodation (hotel) services
  • tailoring
  • portable ablutions
  • equine laundry
  • helpdesk
  • other specialist services
