What does the Democracy Ambassadors resource pack include?
The resource pack includes:
- a core 2 hour session (Start Up Session) with 3 additional sessions with more activities (sessions 2-4)
- supporting audiovisual material
- supporting guidance
- session handouts
Who can use it?
Democracy Ambassadors sessions are aimed at young people aged 13-16. Anyone can use the resource pack: it is particularly suitable for teachers, youth group leaders and young people themselves.
The resource pack provides fresh ideas and innovative ways to engage young people. The sessions are straightforward to prepare and run and can be tailored to suit different groups and settings.
What subjects are covered in the sessions?
Although the sessions are not subject-specific, they are particularly useful for supporting:
- personal, social and health education (PSHE) and the citizenship curriculum programme of study at Key Stage 3 and 4, and with students of GCSE citizenship studies
- the revised citizenship curriculum’s statutory requirements to help pupils learn how citizens actively participate in the UK’s democratic system and think critically and debate political questions
How do I use it?
To begin with, follow the core 2 hour session which can be broken down across several sessions if necessary. Why not then run the other sessions available to download (sessions 2-4)?
