Department for Education departmental digital strategy

Details

Digital is at the heart of the government’s approach to modernising public sector services. The October 2010 report by Martha Lane Fox as UK Digital Champion, recommended that government move all of its online services to a single website, www.gov.uk, and adopt a ‘digital by default’ approach to providing services to offer better customer experience of government services and improve efficiency.

This was incorporated into the Civil Service Reform plan, and requires departments to develop services that: allow straightforward access to information and services in times and in ways that are convenient to the users rather than the providers; and are more efficient and cost-effective to develop and run.
