This statement sets out the approach the Department for Education (DfE) has taken during its first year of implementing the Home Office guidance.

It includes:

  • organisation structure and supply chain
  • departmental policies relating to modern slavery
  • risk assessment and due diligence
  • training and awareness within the department
  • key performance indicators to improve

This statement has been approved by:

  • Baroness Barran, Minister for the School System, on 22 September 2021
  • Susan Acland-Hood, Permanent Secretary, on 7 September 2021
