Response to the consultation on how the law should regulate Deprivations of Liberty (DoLS) for people who lack capacity to consent to their care and treatment arrangements.

It sets out the government’s provisional view of each individual proposal and mostly agrees with the DoLS model.

Following the consultation, the Law Commission published a report on mental capacity and DoLS. The report sets out its recommendations, together with a draft bill.

The government’s final response to these recommendations was published on 14 March 2018.
