Derwent Hydroelectric Power Limited: application made to abstract water

Derwent Hydroelectric Power Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for two licences.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The first application is for a full licence to abstract water from the River Derwent at Ambergate, Derbyshire at National Grid Reference (NGR) SK 34071 52347.
The application is to abstract water all year at the following rates:
- 23,400 cubic metres an hour
- 561,600 cubic metres a day
- 204,984,000 cubic metres a year.
The water will be used to generate hydro-electric power. All of the abstracted water will be returned to the River Derwent at NGR SK 34675 51382.
The second application is for a transfer licence to abstract water from the River Derwent at Ambergate, Derbyshire at NGR SK 34215 52102 to transfer it to the Mill Stream at NGR SK 34205 52087 for the purpose of fish passage.
The application is to abstract water all year at the following rates:
- 7,308 cubic metres an hour
- 175,392 cubic metres a day
- 64,018,080 cubic metres a year
