Guidance on the design rules that form the basis of the directional signing system recommended by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 1994.

While this document gives current advice on the design and use of directional informatory signs, there are:

• newer lists for:
  • primary destinations in England
  • primary destinations in Scotland
• more accurate and site-specific guidance on the calculation of x-heights in chapter 7 of the Traffic signs manual
