This report provides the diversity information and equality objectives which aim to ensure that the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero considers equality in their work. These objectives fall into two distinct groups:
- those about DESNZ as an employer
- those about DESNZ as a policy-making department
DESNZ aims to:
- enhance energy security and endeavour that people are impacted equitably by the costs and benefits
- protect billpayers and, where possible, reduce disadvantages faced by vulnerable consumers
- promote equal access to employment in the energy sector
- ensure that the transition to net zero is fair and affordable
- develop strong talent pipelines to support opportunities within DESNZ for underrepresented protected characteristics
- support building of a robust departmental equality evidence base to inform policy development
