Government Emergency Communications Policy
Under action 1.5 of the Digital Radio Action Plan the the Government Policy Group, which is led by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), has reported on the possible impact of a Radio Switchover on the government’s current civil contingencies policy.
Minimum specifications for DAB and DAB+ Personal and Domestic Digital Radio receivers
Under action 2.1 of the Digital Radio Action Plan, the Technology and Equipment Group have developed minimum radio receiver technical specifications for equipment for use with digital radio transmissions in the UK, which can be tested for compliance against specified test suites, and which are capable of underpinning any future certification scheme. This report outlines the minimum technical specifications for domestic and personal DAB and DAB+ receivers.

Role of other Digital Platforms
Action 2.8 of the Action Plan requires the Technology and Equipment Group to: “Monitor and review the development of other delivery mechanisms for digital radio, including the internet, digital TV and mobile communications and make recommendations on how to use these technologies and the required infrastructure to drive take-up of digital radio and any impact on the minimum specifications and a certification mark.”
Switchover Communications Plan
Under task 3.3 of the Digital Radio Action Plan, the Market Preparation Group have developed a plan for a strategic marketing and communications campaign that could support a future radio switchover.
