Direction issued to Northamptonshire county council due to poor performance in children's social care services.

Details
Ofsted inspected Northamptonshire county council’s:
- arrangements for the protection of children and published a report on 20 March 2013
- adoption service and published a report on 2 May 2013
- looked-after children’s services and published a report on 23 August 2013
With the resulting reports Ofsted found the council to be ‘inadequate’ overall.
In response, ministers issued a statutory direction on 2 October 2013. The statutory direction was valid for 2 years and expired in October 2015.
Northamptonshire county council left intervention in May 2016, following a judgement of ‘requires improvement’ under Ofsted’s Single Inspection Framework (April 2016).
