This direction has now closed. A revised direction issued in November 2022 replaces it.

This direction requires the council to co-operate with a commissioner appointed by the Secretary of State for Education. It follows a 9 May 2022 Ofsted report that judged children’s services to be inadequate.

This direction replaces an earlier improvement notice issued to Sefton Council in May 2021.
