Details
This direction requires the council to:
- comply with the instructions of the Secretary of State in relation to the improvement of its children’s social care services
- cooperate with the Secretary of State’s intervention advisers.
It also requires the independent chair of the council’s improvement board to report to the Secretary of State, on a quarterly basis, on progress with the implementation and impact of the council’s improvement plan.
It follows a report by Ofsted that judged the overall effectiveness of the council’s children’s social care services to be ‘inadequate’.
This direction was lifted on 22 July 2019 following a re-inspection by Ofsted that judged the council’s children’s social care services to be ‘good’.
