The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy is committed to creating a workplace which encourages our people to be themselves and reach their full potential. We recognise that people perform at their best if they work in an environment which is built on respect, trust and collaboration.

Following the Thriving at Work review of mental health and employers, the government launched a framework that encourages businesses to report how many of their staff have a disability or health condition, and to assess the overall wellbeing of staff.

Our first voluntary report sets out work the department is doing to support staff and promote good practice around disability, mental health and wellbeing. It highlights what we have achieved to date and where there are still areas for improvement.
