Draft specific duties regulations were laid before Parliament on 27 June 2011 and are expected to come into force in September 2011, subject to parliamentary approval.

The specific duties apply to English public bodies and the non-devolved functions of GB-wide public bodies. They will drive the better perforamce of the public sector Equality Duty, at Section 149 of the Equality Act 2010, by reducing bureaucracy, and increasing transparency and democratic accountability across the public sector.
