This research and analysis dataset provides data on all inspections of early years providers registered with Ofsted that were carried out between 1 September 2008 and 31 August 2012 and published by 31 January 2013. This is a one-off data release covering the 4-year inspection cycle that ran from the introduction of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) on 1 September 2008 through to 31 August 2012.
Data that refers to the provider status (for example, whether or not they were active and which childcare register they were on) reflects their registration information as at 31 August 2012. Data about the geographical location (local authority and region) is based on the UK National Statistics postcode database as at November 2016 (some geographical boundaries may have changed since the date of the inspections recorded in this dataset).
