The Department for Education is not the creator, owner, editor, manager or provider of the apps (and any information and content contained therein) listed on the Home Learning Environment campaign site (the “Apps”). The information around apps for 2- to 5-year olds on the campaign site should be treated as a guide that aids users to identify relevant apps and digital tools that may be used. The app providers are solely responsible for the compliance and fitness for purpose of their apps and content as well as for the advice, production and maintenance (including all required updates) of their app. The Department for Education is not responsible or liable for any advice, services or products that users obtain through the use of the Apps.
The Department for Education’s external educational assessment partners has applied set standards (as approved by the Department for Education) for reviewing the Apps. The standards are detailed on GOV.UK. The Department for Education has awarded a quality mark to those Apps which the panel recommended as meeting these standards. This does not mean that the Department for Education or its external educational assessment partners have identified all aspects to be considered or reviewed, and verified all aspects of all versions (including any updates) of the Apps, or that the Apps are suitable for use by all types of end user. The Department for Education makes no representation or warranty of any kind, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, adequacy, validity, reliability, availability or completeness of the Apps.
The Department for Education has carried out due diligence to ensure each App is compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Users of the campaign site must exercise their own skill and judgement when downloading and using the Apps, and are expected to carefully read the terms and conditions of any App they download to ensure they fully understand them, including any permissions they are accepting.
By using the Home Learning Environment campaign site users acknowledge and agree that the Department for Education has no liability for any damage or loss howsoever caused (including, but not limited to, damage and loss caused by any errors, loss of data, inaccuracies or omissions in any information, advice, instructions, content or scripts provided by the app provider to users independently of the Apps or contained within the Apps themselves) by a user’s use of or reliance on such information, advice, instructions, content or scripts or for any issues experienced by users in relation to cybersecurity, privacy permissions and data collection.
