This roadmap sets out how Defra will make use of Earth Observation data to make our policy-making more cost-efficient and effective. We will integrate this data into at least 5 Defra policy areas by 2020.

In this report, “Earth Observation” (EO) data refers to spatially referenced data that can be used to see changes on the surface of the Earth over time. Across Defra’s business there are a wide range of existing and potential applications of Earth Observation. These include crop and habitat monitoring, water pollution modelling and fisheries and marine conservation.
