The ‘Ebola 2015: Challenging Ebola with a united front’ symposium was hosted by Public Health England in collaboration with the Wellcome Trust from 13 to 14 January 2015. The event brought together those involved in Ebola containment and research, to share experiences and plan future work to find the way forward in the current outbreak and beyond.

This report summarises the points raised by speakers during the event’s 6 sessions covering:

  • the challenges of Ebola virus disease (EVD)
  • EVD case management
  • laboratory diagnosis
  • EVD immunotherapy and antivirals
  • EVD modelling and transmission
  • containment and risk assessment
