Evidence report MMO 1119, provides an economic baseline for the north east, north west, south east and south west marine plan areas. It focuses on the following sectors’ activity within the plan areas:

  • aquaculture
  • carbon capture and storage
  • coastal protection
  • coastal tourism
  • defence
  • dredging
  • fisheries
  • marine recreation
  • nuclear
  • oil and gas
  • ports
  • shipping
  • renewables
  • telecoms and communications

The research assesses employment, business and Gross Value Added (GVA) information. The report follows the approaches outlined in evidence reports MMO 1050 and MMO 1075. This approach draws upon government data and uses sectoral definitions including standard industrial classifications.
