Issue
The Economic team at the British High Commission, India is part of the wider Knowledge Economy umbrella. The team helps interpret the Indian economy for the UK and develop bilateral economic policy. We act as a conduit between various departments of Her Majesty’s Government and the Government of India on economic and trade related issues.
Action
We are working to support UK prosperity by:

building UK-India economic and trade policy ties through our annual Economic and Financial Dialogue where British and Indian ministers and officials share expertise and agree joint activity on a wide range of economic issues.

working with India in the G20, the World Trade Organisation, the International Monetary Fund and other multilateral economic forums to boost global cooperation on growth and prosperity.

creating strong partnerships with business and civil society to increase discussion and build consensus on economic issues of mutual concern.

working closely with UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) to support UK business by providing economic intelligence on India at federal and state level.

leading on economic and trade projects under the Prosperity Fund India programme.
