1. Information: free meals in further education – carry-over of funds
We’ve updated the free meals in further education guide for the 2016 to 2017 academic year. The revised guide provides additional information on the carry-over of free meals funds from previous academic years. The guide provides clarification on what carry-over funds can and can’t be used for.
2. Information: commercial and charitable providers (CCPs) with over delivery in 2015 to 2016 academic year
We’ll pay commercial and charitable providers (CCPs) with over delivery in 2015 to 2016 academic year any remaining responsive growth up to the funding cap in accordance with the rules set out in ILR funding returns 2015 to 2016.
The payments are scheduled for December 2016 for CCPs who have submitted both ILR R14 returns, a final claim form and whose data has been validated by EFA.
EFA expects to issue final 2015 to 2016 reconciliation statements by the end of November 2016, which will confirm the planned December 2016 payments.
3. Information: publication of schools block and post-16 funding allocations for 2016 to 2017
We’ve published:
- schools block funding allocations to each individual mainstream maintained school (for financial year 2016 to 2017) and academy (for academic year 2016 to 2017) under local authorities’ funding formulae for the funding year 2016 to 2017
- post-16 allocations for individual schools, academies and FE institutions funded by EFA for 16 to 19 year olds and 19 to 25 year olds with an education, health and care (EHC) plan
We’ve published the data-sets in the interest of transparency and to give a more complete picture of education funding by showing how EFA has allocated £5.9 billion (post-16) and £32 billion (schools block funding) of public funds.
4. Information: Bursary Fund audit guide update
We’ve updated the 16 to 19 Bursary Fund audit guide. The guide is designed to help local authorities gain assurance over bursary funding.
The updated guide includes revised audit working papers, including bursary funding and free meals in further education. The updated information reflects the removal of the ring fence between the two budgets in the 2016 to 2017 academic year.
