EFA e-bulletin for schools, colleges, local authorities and other 16 to 19 providers: 15 January 2015
Published 15 January 2015
1. Information: Residential Support Scheme operational change
The Residential Support Scheme delivery model is changing from the 2015 to 2016 academic year. RSS policy, however, remains the same. The scheme will continue to help support students who need to live away from home because the substantial Level 2 or 3 qualification within their study programme is not available within daily travelling distance.
You can find more information about the operational change on GOV.UK.
2. Information: prospectus and expression of interest for college merger
Following a formal review by Peter Mucklow, the Sixth Form College Commissioner, the governing body of Totton College in Southampton is proposing a merger with a suitable partner.
A prospectus and expression of interest form is available on the Totton College website. The closing date for initial expressions of interest is 23 January 2015. The closing date for completed applications is 30 January 2015.
The college governing body expects to be able to announce a preferred provider by the end of March 2015.
3. Information: one-off data collection - maths and English exemptions
Education Funding Agency (EFA) would like to remind post-16 institutions that the return window for completing the one-off count of the number of students who are exempt from studying maths and English in the 2014 to 2015 academic year is now open.
Schools and academies can access a template to complete, along with guidance on the criteria for students to qualify as exempt on the EFA Document Exchange, under folder location: ‘Other Submissions’ > ‘AY 2014-15’.
The closing date for returning the survey is 5pm on 23 January.
4. Reminder: 15 January is spring school census 2015 day
The spring school census day is Thursday 15 January. This is a statutory return which collects information about individual pupils and schools.
The deadline for approved submissions is Wednesday 11 February 2015.
