1. Information: submission route for academies accounts returns

EFA is introducing a new way for academy trusts to submit their 2012 to 2013 accounts returns which are due on 31 January 2014.

Rather than submitting by email to EFA, academies should upload returns to a new online facility hosted by EFA’s delivery partner, Deloitte. During the next ten days, academy trusts will receive unique login details for the online system.

Once you’ve received these, please contact ReturnsSubmissionTeam@deloitte.co.uk if you have queries about uploading documents to the site and dttresponsecenter@deloitte.com if you have technical queries about logging in.

You will find further information, including guidance on how to upload your returns, on the EFA accounts return web page.

If you have already submitted your accounts return to EFA, you do not need to re-submit it via the new facility.

2. Action: academy trusts’ financial statements

The deadline for academy trusts to submit their financial statements, management letters and value for money statements was 31 December 2013.

As it is a requirement under the funding agreement for academy trusts to submit these returns, failure to do so is a breach of the agreement and may result in further action.

EFA has outlined the requirements in the academies accounts direction 2013, published on 30 May 2013.

More than 80% of academy trusts have already sent their returns, and EFA would like to thank you for doing so. If any element of your return is outstanding, please email it to AcademiesFinancialMonitoring.EFA@education.gsi.gov.uk.
