This report examines the technical feasibility of installing different types of electric heating in rural off-gas grid dwellings under a number of insulation scenarios.

It investigates technologies such as:

  • low and high temperature air source heat pumps
  • ground source heat pumps
  • direct electric heating
  • storage heaters
