Countries with emerging economic markets will continue to experience demographic changes. This short paper considers what the impact of population growth is likely to be on their economic growth trajectories up to 2030.
This paper explores the prospects of 21 countries that are emerging markets. They are not drawn from any existing list, and are considered as emerging based on their current and projected GDP and population, as well as GDP per capita. The list includes more established emerging markets as well as economies which have the potential to be become more influential over the next 20 to 35 years.
The paper sets out the overarching impact of demographic change, including how it affects GDP growth, dependency ratios, society and poverty in these economies.
