Energy efficiency measures aim to reduce the amount of energy required to provide a given level of output.

This research aimed to understand more about the energy usage and energy efficiency of UK industry, in aid of progressing towards our emission reduction targets. Over 1,000 firms in the UK manufacturing industry were surveyed.

The report discusses:

  • findings on the energy efficiency behaviour of firms
  • the extent to which they monitor and report on their energy use and energy efficiency
  • barriers faced to improving energy efficiency in industry
  • how experiences of these barriers vary across different business sizes

Survey responses are fully detailed in the accompanying data tables.

The former Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy commissioned IFF Research to conduct the survey.
