The UK and Ireland signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to work closely on the path towards decarbonisation and secure, affordable, renewable based energy systems.

This memorandum of understanding deepens the UK and Ireland’s bilateral relationship and enables closer working on important energy priorities including electricity interconnection and offshore hybrid assets, onshore grids, offshore and onshore renewables, maritime spatial planning, and low carbon hydrogen.
The signing in London at a British-Irish Energy Day was attended by UK Energy Secretary of State Claire Coutinho and Irish Minister for Environment, Climate and Communications and Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan.
