About the role
As an MOD DE&S engineer or scientist you will play a key role within the Defence Equipment and Support organisation. As part of a professional team you will be pivotal to new equipment procurements and improving safety, as well as supporting the updating and the upkeep of in-service equipment, and undertaking disposals and decommissioning. You will work closely with military commands and the wider MOD to meet the needs of the armed forces both today and in the future.
You will be at the heart of ensuring that our forces have the right equipment at the right time. You could be involved in a huge variety of work including:-
- managing DE&S’ programmes
- setting requirements
- overseeing industry partners
- ensuring equipment is safe and effective
- ensuring equipment works with that of our allies
- ensuring current equipment remains safe and available
As a DE&S engineer you could work in the UK or overseas and can be offered a career in:
- aerospace, land, maritime and nuclear systems
- communications and information technology
- sensors and command and control equipment
- weapons, ordnance, munitions and explosives
In some of these roles you may be involved in the full product lifecycle; from design, implementation, managing test phases to product qualification, while in others you may provide an important specialist role in one aspect of a project or an equipment deployment, for example the monitoring of air worthiness.
