Details
The competition opened on 9 February 2017 and is now closed for stage 1 pre-proposals.
The aim of the CoBioTech competition is to help transform the global economy from depending on fossil raw material to using more sustainable, bio-based resources.
Part of Horizon 2020, this competition consists of 2 phases: pre-proposal and full proposal.
Submitted proposals must be multidisciplinary and include at least one of the following scientific approaches:
- synthetic biology
- systems biology
- bioinformatic tools to identify and use metabolic pathways
- biotechnological approaches (possibly in combination with chemical ones)
In addition, proposals must cover a call-specific research topic to be eligible. These include:
- sustainable production and conversion of different types of feedstocks and bioresources
- new products, value-added products and supply services
- sustainable industrial processes
The projects should fall within Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 3 to 6. They do not need to cover the whole range. Industry engagement should be appropriate for the TRL range being investigated.
This competition is jointly funded under Horizon 2020’s ERA-NET Cofund Programme.
Each country has its own eligibility criteria as outlined in the competitions guidance. The national and regional funding bodies from participating countries and regions, including the UK, will jointly implement the funding.
If you are a UK applicant and your project progresses to a stage 2 full proposal you will be required to complete a UK finance form. It will be emailed to you directly by Innovate UK, and should be returned before the deadline. This is a separate and mandatory form in addition to the ERA-NET application process.
Invitation to stage 2 will be sent by 22 May 2017.
The deadline for stage 2 full proposals is midday on 20 July 2017.
Applicants will be notified by the end of October 2017.
Projects start from December 2017.
