Details

The aim of this photonic sensing competition is to improve Europe’s market share in photonics-based sensing technologies.

The joint, co-funded competition is a transnational call for research and development (R&D) proposals. Projects should support the fast development and implementation of photonics-based sensing technologies. Proposals should include R&D for photonic techniques for the technology readiness levels (TRL) 3 to 6.

This competition is jointly funded under Horizon 2020’s ERA-NET Cofund Programme.

The national and regional funding bodies from participating countries and regions, including the UK, will jointly implement the funding.

We will consider the following application areas:

  • safety, including food safety
  • civil security
  • manufacturing and production
  • environmental monitoring
  • medical applications

The competition opens on Thursday 1 September 2016.

The deadline for stage 1 pre-proposals is by 5pm Central European Time (CET) on 5 December 2016.

The deadline for stage 2 full proposals is by 5pm CET on 29 March 2017.

Applicants will be notified in July 2017.

Projects start from October 2017.

Each country has its own eligibility criteria. Please refer to the Guide for Proposers document above.
