1. Information: academies budget forecast return outturn (BFRO)
The online form for the academies budget forecast return outturn (BFRO) is now available for use. The deadline for trusts to submit their BFRO, which collects financial outturn information, is 21 May 2018.
We’ve published the link to the online form and detailed guidance to help you complete your return.
The BFRO uses the same IT platform, with the same login details, that trusts used for their accounts return and for the land and buildings collection tool.
To help trusts, we have automatically allocated the same roles to the people who had roles as a preparer or approver for their accounts return. If any roles in your trust have changed, or you have any queries about registering to use the online form, please refer to our academies financial returns online form registration page on GOV.UK.
1.1 New and established trusts that opened new academies in April 2018
To reduce the number of returns trusts have to submit, new trusts and established trusts that opened new academies in April 2018 do not need to submit separate in-year budget forecast return for new openers.
Instead, trusts should include financial outturn information for their new academies in their BFRO by 21 May.
We’ll write to these trusts separately with further information.
2. Information: updated 2017 to 2018 pupil number adjustment
We’ve published updated information about the annual pupil number adjustment (PNA) exercise. Academies can use the calculator tool to estimate their own adjustments.
